The Month Ahead - May 2017

A Himalayan cuisine to add to the list and a CASUAL Duck and Waffle and so much more. May is set to be a hot month for new openings.

Duck And Waffle Local

Duck and Waffle in the City is getting a little sister in the name of Duck and Waffle Local.

Based in St James's Market, the more laid back venue, chef director Dan Doherty gives guests the opportunity to order their food at the counter and be shown to their table, or opt for a takeaway service instead.

This will be a god send to some who work in the area and require some of the finer foods than the standard sandwich shop.

This will also mean a speedier service and a more wallet friendly price.

"Duck and Waffle has been a hit from the start" according to founder and managing partner Shimon Bokovza, "We've served over a million guests and almost half a million dishes since opening in July 2012. We are now harnessing the energy of the brand and bringing it to the street in a more casual atmosphere that works for those who want the same high-quality food and drink they are used to from Duck & Waffle — but want it to be quick and accessible."

The famous Duck and Waffle dish will still be on the menu, along with new ideas including a duck burger with crispy duck leg and you can expect the return of some favourites including the BBQ crispy pigs ears (tastes a lot nicer than it sounds).

Cocktails will be on tap and you can expect to get the same great selection of wines, spirits and beers too.

Foxlow Soho

The guys behind the Hawksmoor Will Beckett and Huw Gott are to open a new branch of Foxlow this month in Soho.

Able to accomodate 120 covers, this venue is sure to offer the good old favourites such as five pepper Brixham squid and great British steaks.

Dinings SW3

The team behind Dinings, the Japanese restaurant opened in Marylebon in 2006, is launching Dinings SW3 this month. We're sure form the nam,e you can tell this newest venture is to be based in Knightsbridge (in a merws just off Walton Street).

You can expect authentic Japanese style food mixed with European cuisines.

Madame D's

Gunpowder is where many of London's best chefs eat. So it was a pleasure to their ears to hear that it's owners are launching a similar restaurant around the corner called Madame D's.

With an interesting focus on Himalayan cuisine, the restaurant will be offering a range of foods, some that we are fmailiar with and some that will be new to the palates of the British, including pan fried Tibetan Duck, garlic coriander steamed chicken and much more. These will make great talking points at the table.

Like Gunpowder, the venue is intimate, with a cover of 20, and communal dining is encouraged. With it being a small venue, it's assumed (although not confirmed that restaurant will serve without reservations, so arrive early/late to avoid any queues.
